FRIENDS OF THE HAVEN

Who are we?

A group of parents, guardians and friends committed to expanding the opportunities and resources for clients of The Haven.

We exist to support our
friends at The Haven.

We may be biased, but we feel we put the 'fun' in fundraising! We've put together several successful fundraising events, volunteered at The Haven's flagship fundraiser & race, the Jingle & Jog 5k, and so much more!

Since its conception in May 2016, the Friends of The Haven has met monthly with common goals of:

  • Collaborating with the Board of Directors, administration, staff and clients

  • Fundraising for The Haven's sustainability

  • Growing our volunteer base

  • Showing appreciation for The Haven's staff

ANNOUNCEMENT

Events

We bring a lot of food and fun! Hosted events include:

  • Pancake breakfasts at Applebee's

  • Ted's Challenge – Raised $5,000 for operational expenses

  • A Night of "BS" (BBQ & Sinatra) – Raised thousands of dollars for The Haven

  • Grillin N Chillin- Coming soon on April 5, 2025. 

Fundraising

  • We love to raise money for The Haven

  • $5,600 for The Friends Park on campus

  • $4,800 for a new wheelchair van

  • $25,000 for heavy duty picnic tables & umbrellas

  • $25,000 for sunshade over the ADT patio area

MEETINGS

We typically meet the second Monday of every other month, September thru May, but you can stay up to date by 'liking' us on Facebook. Guest speakers have included attorneys discussing special needs trusts & guardianship, along with state APD employees to educate on how to qualify/apply for waivers. Also, The Haven senior leadership team are frequent guest speakers.

Friends of The Haven

I'm excited to be the newly elected President of The Friends of The Haven. The Friends organization has a long-standing tradition of fundraising, volunteering, and supporting The Haven, and I am committed to continuing all of these important efforts. In addition to maintaining these core activities, my goal is to strengthen the connections among the families and friends who make up the greater Haven community. We all share a common bond through our belief in the ability that comes with disability, and together, we can provide an incredible amount of support to one another. ~ Dan Malone
